"Sudden cardiac arrest causes 20% of deaths in Europe, and more than 80% of them occur outside healthcare facilities. Health authorities in the EU in 2012 issued a Declaration on Awareness of Sudden Cardiac arrest, which ordered all EU members to conduct broad education among citizens, because it is the only way to prevent such a high mortality rate. Eyewitnesses should know the basic resuscitation procedures to increase the victim’s chances of survival. Ambulance, no matter how well organized, mostly across the EU, arrives late. The average arrival is 5-8 minutes, which is still not fast enough. Even today, the Sarajevo Ambulance teams rushed from two directions, Llidza and Hadzic, towards the victim of cardiac arrest. Although the Illidze team arrived first, in 5 minutes, it was still too late.
We don't know how long the victim had been unconscious before, but what is catastrophic, no one has done anything more than call an ambulance.
We must all together as a society, invest much more in education, in order to help ourselves !!!
The Sarajevo Canton Emergency Service is at the service of all relevant institutions, organizations and individuals in order to implement the EU recommendations on educating citizens on basic life support measures. ”
