The mission of the employees of the Public Institution for Emergency Medical Aid of the Sarajevo Canton, from the highest to the lowest ranked, is to help the suddenly ill and injured citizens. And everyone has importance in that mission, each in his own way and according to his duties and possibilities. Among the most important links in this chain are our medical field teams, equipped and educated to help our citizens no matter what conditions they find themselves in. One of those situations happened this morning in Vogošća when our team did not hesitate to use shovels to help their patient. Namely, our fellow citizen fell into an unprotected drain with her foot at the Vogošće site, where the garage used to be, and remained stuck for more than half an hour until the citizens heard her call for help. The Sarajevo Ambulance team immediately went to the scene of the accident, and as their leg was so stuck, they called the firefighters and members of the Vogošća Police Department. While one part of the medical team took care of the patient by warming her and monitoring her vital functions, the other part of the team worked together with firefighters and police officers on the excavation, in order to free her leg without additional injuries.
The rescue operation was successfully completed after half an hour, after which the patient, with a detailed examination and immobilization, stable vital parameters, was transported to the emergency center of the general hospital for diagnosis and further treatment.
