SARAJEVO AND EASTERN SARAJEVO SAVE PATIENTS TOGETHER

Tonight's joint action of the Emergency Medical Service East Sarajevo and the Public Institution ZHMP KS shows that the training for the Emergency Medical Technician in the Education Center of the Public Institution ZHMP KS is much more than just the transfer of knowledge. Dr. Ivana Nikić, on duty at the East Sarajevo Emergency Room, tonight at around 8:30 p.m. she received a call from relatives for her grandfather who lives alone and who does not answer, they do not have the keys to the apartment, and he is 80 years old. With the driver of the ambulance, Emergency Medical Technician Srdjan Radojevic, who died on November 18, 2020, went to the field. successfully completed a two-month training in JU ZHMP KS.
Since the grandfather did not answer calls or phone calls, Hmt Srđan, following the protocol, called the police and the fire service, which provided access to the patient in a short time. Applying the learned approach to the examination of the patient, he measures vital parameters, opens the venous path, and due to difficult breathing and low saturation, he also includes oxygen. The patient is aware and states that his legs suddenly betrayed him, he could not move or make a call for help. After the examination, HMT Srdjan ruled out visible injuries, and due to the suspicion of a stroke and Covid 19, the patient was transported to the East Sarajevo Emergency Room. The on-duty Dr. Nikić prescribes the necessary therapy to the patient, and as the patient is being treated in the Sarajevo Canton, they invite the team of the Public Institution ZHMP KS to meet them and take over the patient. Dr. Nikić notes that she is not able to rule out Covid 19 in the patient so that the team can adequately prepare. Fully cared for, the Sarajevo Canton Ambulance team, with constant medical supervision, transports the patient for further treatment and necessary diagnostics.
We are proud of our colleagues from the Emergency Service in East Sarajevo, and with the mentioned joint intervention, we have shown that we only differentiate patients according to the degree of urgency, we are not interested in the rest.
