Every year, October 16 is marked as a day of resuscitation, which since last year has grown into a global public health action World Resuscitation Day, supported by the International Working Commission for Resuscitation (ILCOR, according to the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation) and the World Health Organization.

After a sudden cardiac arrest, the brain can survive only three to five minutes without oxygen. That is usually less time than it takes for the ambulance team to arrive. That is why today out of ten victims of heart failure, only one survives. However, citizens can greatly help change these devastating statistics as they are even in 60-80% of cases witnessing cardiac arrest. If they immediately start resuscitating the victim of cardiac arrest and use the Automatic External Defibrillator, the possibility of its survival and
complete neurological recovery increases by 2 to 4 times.

This year, the Sarajevo Canton Emergency Medical Service will mark the World Revival Day in Sarajevo Canton in public health actions by teaching citizens the basic measures of life support with the use of an automatic external defibrillator, with which they can save lives:
- in Srajevo, promenade Dobrinja on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 11:00 to 14:00 h
-in Sarajevo, on the plateau in front of the BBI Center on Friday, October 18, 2019, from 10:00 to 13:00

We invite all citizens of Sarajevo Canton to join us at the mentioned locations and through their education, in case of need, save someone's life!
