KS Crisis Staff: Special precautions for children and the elderly !!!

As it was pointed out today at the session of the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of KS, the epidemiological situation in the Sarajevo Canton is stable, without confirmed cases of the presence of coronavirus.

Intensified epidemiological surveillance measures are still being taken in the field, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Crisis Staff of the Federal Ministry of Health and the Cantonal Ministry of Health, with the aim of early detection of potential viruses, their isolation, treatment and prevention.

Primary and secondary schools are advised not to organize field trips and school trips in countries and areas where cases of coronavirus have been reported.

Also, students and teachers are invited, considering that it is the season and the flu, not to come to school in cases of respiratory health problems.

The same recommendation applies to educators and parents who should not bring their children to kindergartens in cases of such health problems.

The Public Health Institute of KS recommended the suspension of visits to nursing homes and ordered increased hygiene measures for staff working with the elderly, given that this is the most vulnerable category of the population to the corona virus.

"Older people and the chronically ill are recommended to use public transport as little as possible during this period and to avoid places of larger gatherings," says the recommendations of the KS Crisis Staff.

Measures to strengthen health surveillance of persons coming from countries where the presence of coronavirus has been confirmed continue to be implemented.

In case of respiratory symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing), people should call the Hygiene and Epidemiological Service of the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton to get information on further treatment by phone:

+387 62 086 282
+387 62 030 778
+387 62 030 796
+387 62 030 728.

Also, people who have the mentioned symptoms should not come to health centers and other health institutions on their own. In addition to the phones mentioned above, it is possible to contact family doctors for recommendations on further action.

Once again, we emphasize that coronavirus testing is not conducted at the request of individuals, individually, but exclusively according to strict medical and epidemiological indications, and after medical examinations and epidemiological surveys.

Recommendations for the population:

Avoid large gatherings of people indoors but also outdoors to prevent transmission of the infection by droplets;
