A glaring example of the justification for establishing an observation room and new services in our laboratory happened this weekend. Namely, a patient with chest pain associated with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) comes to the emergency room. After a medical examination, measurement of vital parameters, it is concluded that there are no typical changes for ACS on the ECG, and the patient is transferred to the observation room, where he is treated with cardiac markers - troponins, which are the gold standard for diagnosing heart attack. Considering that the finding is positive, it is concluded that it is the so-called NSTEMI heart attack. The patient is transported to KUM, from where he is transferred to the Clinic for Heart Diseases and Rheumatism of KCUS, for further treatment.
The complete justification of the new services in our laboratory and the existence of an observation room was shown through this example of quality care of a potentially vitally endangered patient. The patient received an accurate diagnosis as soon as possible, and during that time he was completely under adequate, medical monitoring in the observation room, and then transferred to an adequate clinic by medical transport for definitive treatment. Only with this, timely and quality approach to life-threatening patients, we can prevent serious health consequences of heart patients.
Congratulations to Prim M.Sc. Sakib Tukar on the extremely dedicated approach and treatment of the patient, who conditioned the quality definitive care at the Clinic for Heart Diseases and Rheumatism.
