- 400,000 outpatient cardiac arrests occur in Europe each year, survival below 10%
- because victim survival depends on CPR provided by trained eyewitnesses and the availability of AEDs
- because on average 3.89% of eyewitnesses in KS approach to help the victim and in the European Union 58% (13% -82%)
- because the European Parliament issued a declaration in 2012 on the establishment of a European week on raising awareness of cardiac arrest
